The Public Defender of Rights examined the respect for women’s rights during childbirth. The results show that despite improvements in some areas, such as the perception of health professionals’ behavior towards mothers, health care during childbirth does not take full account of scientific and medical developments while fully respecting women’s rights. The most serious are the findings in relation to violations of the right to privacy, the right to informed consent, the protection of human dignity, respect for bodily integrity and mental integrity, as well as respect for the right to enjoy the fruits of scientific progress and its use.
