Public Defender of Rights has received more than 200 letters and appeals both from the non-governmental organizations and private persons from various countries with regard to the case of Mustafa Labsi. Despite the courts decision-making falls outside his remit, the Public Defender of Rights closely follows the proceedings related to the Mustafa Labsi´s extradition. With a special letter he has addressed the Minister of Justice of the Slovak Republic Stefan Harabin asking him to pay close attention to the case in the light of the Slovak Republic´s international obligations in the sphere of human rights protection of the extradited persons. Public Defender of Rights expressed his persuasion that Slovak Republic respects and acts in accordance with the legal order and international agreements it is bound by.
